Fashion and Beauty Imagery

This fashion lifestyle video of Lashae was shot near Atlanta, GA in a coffee shop using a huge window for lighthis was shot in Atlanta, GA at an outdoor seating area at Establishment, a restaurant/bar in Colony Square. We booked 12 models, 2 did not show up. However one of the models brought his girl friend, who was also good looking, so we threw her into the group and she did great. An hour and a half later we were done! This fashion & beauty project was shot while the model was in a car. I positioned the car so the reflection of the trees would show. his Lifestyle still and video project was shot in a park in Atlanta, GA USA. A lifestyle video shot in Atlanta, GA. and was shot in a parking lot near Atlanta, GA. This fashion lifestyle video of Lashae was shot near Atlanta, GA in an industrial site. This Lifestyle Couple video was shot in Marietta, GA, on a quite side street in an old residential neighborhood. This street is just a wonderful location. This fashion lifestyle project was shot in Milan, Italy at a restaurant/bar/ice cream shop, Van Bol & Feste, near the center of town. Van Bol started in Naples, Italy in 1890 by a man from Holland. They are now in Milan. This lifestyle travel video was shot for a client in Sorrento, Italy This western cowboy lifestyle project was shot on a Colorado ranch Steve was in Wolcott, Colorado shooting some winter cowboy imagery. This day started at 5:30 am when the alarm goes off. Getting out of bed, dressing just enough to walk outside in the -7 degree (-22 C) weather to see if the weather forecast was correct or totally wrong. This morning the forecast held and there no need to send out the dreaded "The shoot is cancelled due to weather" text messages. This was shot for one of my clients in Milan, Italy. I was sitting in Delbinari for the first time, a wonderful restaurant and is one of my favorites in the world, talking to a business associate. He said the restaurant was owned by a very good friend of his and wondered if I would please shoot some photos. I told him that I eat food not shoot food. He asked me several times and I finally said OK. Well I had fun, being it was something new. Since then I have developed a website for the restaurant and added videos to the site too. This video is for another restaurant owned by the same man as the first restaurant. Come to find out he has about 9 restaurants in Milan. Dolce Vita (Italian for Sweet Life) is a white tablecloth fine dining restaurant in the middle of Milan close to the Duomo (Italian for the main cathedral). The food is close to being off the charts and is another of my favorite restaurants in Milan. Delbinari is my favorite mostly due to the consistent quality of the food, the interior design, the outdoor eating under a canopy of grape leaves intertwined with the overhead arbor. The added experience of eating great food in a wonderful location. They have the business lunch down pat, when you order, you need to get your table cleared of Stuff, like cell phones, iPads, folios etc. because in minutes the food will arrive.festyle, this restaurant, Dolce Vita, was shot in Milan, Italy for a client. This western cowboy lifestyle project shot on a Colorado ranch of a cowboy riding in the snow at speed These lifestyle images & video of children in yellow leaves was shot in Atlanta, Georgia USA. I have been shooting at, under and in this same Ginkgo tree on and off for 23 years late in the fall. UPS has an internal Being Well program which is designed to help employees lead a healthy life. We shot in several select cities across the USA and produced 2 to 3 minute videos on each person. We also shot a lot of B roll outside and inside the UPS distribution centers on each person to help tell their individual health story. All of the the interviews were shot in an office environment to have better sound. This video is not the story, but rather a group of quick sample snippets of video and still images showing how I light, shoot and direct an interview Personal Work
Personal Work
Berlin - While planning my way to Zingst, Germany, I decided to fly into and spend 2 days in Berlin as I have never been there and I really wanted a couple of days to get over the major part of Jet Lag. The first day was spent wandering around the Nollendorf square (Nollendorfplatz) area as I was unable to sleep due to an air raid siren in the form of a 1 year old child 2 seats away crying, screaming and making a fuss the entire 9 hour flight to Paris. Normally I can tune this out but not this time. So after arriving at the hotel I was hoping to be able to stay awake until at least 10 pm. However by 7 pm I was asleep as I could not function as I had been up for 25 hours plus dealing with the dyhydration that occurs when flying, even drinking a lot of water on the flight, I was out. This multimedia personal project is a light and shadow study of a date palm's stripped fruit cluster. On some of the video you can see where the dates were attached before being picked. The easiest is in the opening image, on the left, all of the round buds are where a date was growing. Personal Work - All of these images were taken around 5 PM in mid July. I had left Denver, Colorado on my way to a ranch just outside Woodward, Oklahoma to shoot with Bobbie, a cowgirl I had met 5 years previous & could never get my travel plans to get back to Woodward at a proper time of day to shoot with her. So while passing through Minneola, Kansas I noticed 3 old grain elevators off to my left. I thought I really would like to shoot them but it was getting late plus I had another 2 hours driving time before I got to Woodward. Knowing I wanted to scout at Bobbie's a while to locate the right spot to work and then get Bobbie & me back on site and still have time to shoot, I decided to press on. Personal Work - The Eiffel Tower is an icon of Western civilization and is instantly recognizable in most of the world. I was in Paris in late January for a fashion & beauty project and at night, Emiliano, my European assistant & I set out to Play! The small twinkling lights on the tower start Twinkling at night on the hour and last 5 minutes, so you have to find where you want to be and be set up & ready to go. Then you have another 55 minutes to find another spot and shoot, then another. In the middle we ducked into a cafe for coffee or tea and to warm ourselves up. We shot for 4 nights in the cold, wind and rain and got some cool imagery for our efforts. Even though I have lived in Paris 3 different times, I never tire of being there. Personal Work - This series of Aviation imagery, stills and video, was shot over 2 different days, both in late afternoon. The still images not taken in the water, were shot inside the hangar with the aircraft positioned just out of the direct sunlight, allowing Steve to use the sky as a giant soft light source. When the sun started to get too close, Steve just pushed the plane back into the hangar a bit. Personal Work - Stazione Centrale (Central Station) is the main international train station in the heart of Milan, to me it is a stunning architectural structure and is a juxtaposition in that it is mostly masculine in showing massive strength but parts of it are feminine in the curves and arches of it's steel skeleton. Personal Work - I was invited by the organizers of the photo festival to teach about light and the use and and control of the same to 2 groups of photographers, amateur as well as professional over 2 days. What I shot was part of the opening of this event. I was invited to Oberstdorf, which is the southernmost point of Germany, in September of 2013, as part of a meeting and get to know each other. I also took photos of another event where they bring the cows off of the high mountain pastures to separate the cows to go with their owners to their winter quarters, the barn. The photos here were from the event that was in June 2014 and was very warm that day, unusually warm for Germany, 95° (35° C). At the top of the mountain it was about 65°-70°, so delightful. Personal Work - I was in Phoenix for a project in late February and had an extra day before flying back to Atlanta. On this day it started out a rainy and dreary day and I had planned to stay in the hotel room to work on the imagery I had shot for my client the day I arrived and the next day, which I did start on. Mid morning I checked the weather, something as an image maker I do out of habit, and noticed the forecast had changed from the night before and it looked like in the late afternoon I would have a 2 hour window of no rain with a chance of the clouds thinning to what might be a stunning sunset. So I stopped working on my client's project, packed the gear I would want and piled it by the door then went back working on my client project. In the afternoon I moved the gear into the rental car and drove to the location. Personal Work - This is a video made from thousands of still photos, something called Timelapse where you attach a still camera onto a tripod and then shoot photos over a set amount of time, like one a second or one every 10 seconds etc. After you shoot the photos you make an image sequence and drop that into a video editing application. Personal Work - I was flying from New York to Atlanta after shooting a project with an actor in the city. When I booked the flight I selected a 5:00 pm departure knowing at that time of year it would be close to sunset, so I might get some really pretty light to shoot photographs & video from the plane. Uncharacteristically I had selected a window seat so I could take photos and video out of the window, typically I only book an exit row aisle seat. However I was bumped up to first class (thank you Delta) 5 days before the flight which is great because the wing causes issues for me in the photo or video. As soon as I got the upgrade I selected a window seat because my Delta profile says aisle only. Personal Work - This personal project was shot on two different days. I hopped onto a bus in Maiori, Italy, on the Amalfi Coast, to meet my business partner in Salerno, Italy. Just inside the city limits of Salerno, I briefly saw this old boat out of the bus window. I got off the bus, picked up the rental car, went to some meetings and on the way back to the hotel, in Maiori, drove into the port, by now it was very late in the day, about 8:00 p.m. (20:00). In driving to the boat there was a gate and it looked like it was locked. I got out of the car and saw the lock was closed, but the chain was not locked. So I unwrapped the chain & lock then opened the gate. I then was able to drive close to the boat. I jumped out of the car, & furiously shot 100+ images in 9 minutes, then the light was gone. I closed the gate, re-wrapped the chain and drove back to Maiori. 2 days later I drove back to Salerno in the morning & shot 300+ images in about 25 minutes. Personal Work - This project was shot in about 2 hours in the Princeton area of South Miami, Florida. I was on my way to a shoot in the keys, when I saw this location. A couple of days later I drove back & shot 200+ images. I knew this was going to be pretty cool but not until I thought to show what can be done with color images then converting them to B&W did I realize the full potential.
