This fashion image was taken in the stairwell of my Milan, Italy apartment. All of the light is from a single strobe head placed at the top of the stairs and is raw light, meaning it is not modified. Because the stairwell is painted white there is a lot of light bouncing around which helps to slightly soften the shadows.

To get this shot, I am laying on my side, trying to watch and direct the model (although Ivana really does not need much in the way of direction), watch my framing and trying to keep the camera level even though I am looking at the scene sideways. In addition to all of this, there is a thick pipe framework in the stairwell supporting the ceiling meaning I did not have the full width of the already narrow walkway to work with, so it was very confined. But I got the shot I was looking for.

The gear: Canon 16-35mm (set at 28mm) f2.8 zoom lens @ f3.2 mounted onto a Canon Professional Digital Camera 1/160 second @ 100 ISO set in RAW mode and a Lumedyne battery strobe system, MicroSync radio sync trigger.
